Another Long Neck? this page last

This lady had been telling me for awhile now that
she had a violet and was going to give it to me because it was not
blooming anymore. I asked her about the lighting, the
watering, fertilizing etc. and she told me she had been treating it the
same since she got it. She was wondering what kind of violet it was
as there was some kind of rooted thing like a bulge or "corm" beside it.
She finally remembered it this past week and brought it to me. When she left I went to
look at it and this is what I found.
I am trying to show you how the stem circled on the surface
of the soil.
Well
I think the pictures tell the story. This plant grew a long neck and the
outer leaves were taken off as they dried and died. The ?stem?
collapsed with the weight of the plant and being as it was not watered
properly, it was trying to make do with what it was offered and
began re-rooting itself. Needless to say all the stem needed to be
cut off and dusted with a rooting hormone and planted in a
2-1/2" pot with one part each of vermiculite,. perlite and
peat.
I have been reading email on
VioletReflections that lead me to believe that most people do not know
that Stim Root comes in three strengths. One for woody cuttings, one
for soft wood cuttings etc. You must be sure to purchase and use the
right one.
