If ain't broken don't fix it!                                               last updated  11/04/200411/04/2004 10:36:42 PM

If you are having success with your violets now you know what to do, why look for trouble by trying to change things? This site's main purpose is to point out there is more than one way to grow an african violet. Most successful growers realize that.

Humidity, lighting, temperatures, fertilizer and soil are some main factors in the health of any plant. Any variation of any of those factors will make a difference in the way a plant responds to it's care. For example I have a "Yucca" that grows like crazy for me in my living room window, but the woman in the house across the street facing mine cannot grow it in her living room.

Think about it, if you are living in a humid atmosphere you would not have any use for the pebble filled tray with water I suggest to add humidity to your violet area.  The real winner here would be common sense, take what you might need and leave the rest for someone else to use.

What ever you do don't change everything all at once! Take one small step at a time using just one of your violets from your collection and watch it very closely. Once you see that your experimental plant has adapted well to the first "change" move on to the next step. If your problem is solved with that one little change don't gamble testing the rest.

IF it ain't broken don't fix it.
