Apache Blanket blossom as a model  for
RACHEL'S REFLECTIONS  WEBSITE LOGO

When I decided to make a website I wanted something original, something I could call my own,  something one would recognize as a picture from Rachel's Reflections.  The only real way I thought I could accomplish this would be to use my own pictures of one of my own grown african violets as a model.

When I took the picture shown below I thought this is it!  How could I find something more original than this?  It was to my eyes a perfect flower  in every way!

Apache Blanket
is credited to the hybridizer who created the original described in the master variety list  as

Apache Blanket (6128)  01/24/86 (J. Munk)
Double blue fringed.  Variegated green, white and pink, ruffled.  Standard

I very carefully selected the blossom you see circled above and lifted it from the picture to use as a model for my logo.  I added a drop shadow to use as a stationary for my email and also a  background for my site.  I resized the original blossom to use as a bullet and a row of the tiny blossoms became my divider. Content that I now have something original, and beautiful  I must thank  J.Munk the hybridizer for the creation of the original Apache Blanket.  It gave me the opportunity to grow such a perfect flower to use as a model here.

So there unfolds the mystery of  the beautiful blossom I wear so proudly at my site
and on my email stationary.

I have strived to be "original" in as many ways as possible.  All the pictures on this site are photo's either my husband or I took with my digital camera. In some cases the pictures were scanned, but they are still a photograph we took ourselves.   When I needed a "diagram" and couldn't do it,  I had my daughter sketch them for me and I credited them to her on the page they are used on..

I am very proud to say parts of this site have been published in a news publication and one other african violet site is using some of my pictures, both with my permission of course and in both cases they credited the pictures and content to me.

Again I thank each and everyone of you who have either visited and/or requested some information from me.  In this way Rachel's Reflections has grown to what you see here today. With your visits,  your questions and support this site has grown substantially and is now holding a respectable position in some major search engines.  Each time one of you make a visit through a search engine this site goes one step up in "ratings"  for that subject.  Each time one of you send in a question it gives me an idea of another subject to cover.

So ...........
I THANK ALL OF YOU
for helping me build this site.
